1. Lighting. In winter’s shortened days, lighting takes center stage.  Try peppering your rooms with a combination of ambient and task lighting.  Subtly lighting the corners of your spaces will always make a room feel larger.
2. Texture. Leather, glass, metal, wood, wool, cotton and silk.  Every textural layer you add to a space will make it infinitely more interesting and inviting.
3. Color. Take your favorite accent color and deviate one shade lighter and darker.  Add this resulting triad of colors into your space on accessories or accents, for increased depth and sophistication.
